Rapid HEK Protein Production & Prototyping – Speed Meets Quality
Need complex proteins fast? Our HEK Cells Transient Expression service combines the speed of transient transfection with the quality of mammalian processing. It is the perfect solution for rapid prototyping, structural biology, or small-batch production where time-to-market is critical. We deliver authentic folding and glycosylation in weeks rather than months, providing you with high-quality material for immediate testing and validation.
The Fastest Route to High-Quality Human Proteins
-
Rapid Prototyping: Time is critical. Our transient expression platform allows production from gene to purified protein in just 8 to 10 weeks. Perfect for validating targets or screening variants before committing to stable cell line development.
-
Authentic Human Glycosylation: Don’t compromise on quality for speed. Unlike bacterial systems, HEK cells provide complex post-translational modifications (PTMs) and proper folding, ensuring your protein is bioactive and structurally correct.
-
Scalable Transient Transfection: Need more material? We seamlessly scale from milliliters to liters using optimized transfection protocols in suspension culture-delivering milligram to gram quantities without the wait time of stable clone selection.

FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions about our HEK Expression Services
When should I choose HEK (transient) over CHO (stable)?
Choose HEK when speed is your priority. It is ideal for rapid prototyping, structural biology, or producing small amounts of material (mg to gram range) for initial testing. If you need large industrial batches (up to 30 grams) or a permanent cell bank for long-term IVDR production, stable CHO is the better choice.
How fast can you deliver?
A typical transient project takes 8 to 10 weeks from gene to purified protein. This is significantly faster than stable cell line development, which can take several months.
Are the proteins active and properly folded?
Yes. Since HEK cells are of human origin, they possess the full machinery for complex folding and human-like glycosylation. This makes them superior to E. coli for producing secreted proteins, receptors, or antibodies that require post-translational modifications.
What is the expected yield?
Yields in transient systems are typically lower than in stable cell lines, usually ranging from 20 mg/L to 100 mg/L depending on the protein sequence. However, this is sufficient for most research assays, feasibility studies, and preclinical testing.
Do you use serum in the process?
No. We use exclusively serum-free, chemically defined media. This ensures high batch-to-batch consistency and simplifies downstream purification by avoiding contaminating serum proteins.
Can you use my expression vector?
Yes, absolutely. We can incorporate your proprietary vector into our workflow. We generally require 1–2 µg of plasmid DNA along with the full sequence or vector map. This information is mandatory for our internal biosafety documentation and ensures compatibility with our expression systems.
Do you support project planning and vector design?
Yes, our HEK-specific support starts at the DNA level. We assist with codon optimization and vector design to ensure maximum efficiency and high-titer production for your HEK-based projects
